# Getting Started

Welcome to Genius SMS! This guide walks you through logging in for the first time and finding your way around the system.

## Step 1 — Open the System

Open your browser and go to your school's Genius SMS URL (provided by your administrator), for example:

https://yourschool.geniussms.com
```

## Step 2 — Log In

1. Enter your **Email** and **Password** on the login page.
2. Click **Sign In**.

> Your login credentials are provided by your school administrator. If you have not received them, contact your admin.

### Forgot Your Password?

Click **Forgot password?** on the login page, enter your email address, and follow the instructions sent to your inbox.

## Step 3 — You Are Redirected to Your Dashboard

After logging in, the system automatically takes you to the correct dashboard for your role:

| Teacher | School Reports Dashboard |
| Accountant | School Reports Dashboard |
| Librarian | School Reports Dashboard |
| Student | My Student Dashboard |

## Step 4 — Explore the Sidebar

The **sidebar** on the left is your main navigation. It only shows the sections relevant to your role — you will not see anything you do not have access to.

- Click any menu item to open that section.
- Click the **arrow button** (◀ / ▶) at the top-right of the sidebar to collapse or expand it.

## Step 5 — Switch Dark / Light Mode

Click the **moon / sun icon** in the top-right corner of the screen to toggle between dark and light mode.
